Folk Art Painting: Birds & Branches

Tonya Gray
9:00 - 4:30
Wednesday March 17
$205.00

The style of folk art painting is simple imagery with rustic lines, often telling a story of everyday life. In this class we will paint birds on leafy branches, crows are the specific starting bird, and if you’d like, you can embellish from there.

We will use acrylic paints, which dry quickly, and allow us to work on 2 paintings in this one day class.

One of the main techniques we will use is painting the background after the focal point is painted. This is a practice of letting go, allowing that parts of the painting may be painted over and has a loose lighthearted effect. I think it’s fantastic!

No experience is necessary. Your painting and drawing style will emerge throughout the class. Individuality is what makes each artist shine. We will use chalk as an outline so there is lots of time to practice/erase/fine tune your work.
